UPCAT Tips From Verified Test Passers - UP Students and Alumni

Have you heard? UPCAT is back! The first UPCAT since the pandemic happened will be conducted on June 3 and 4, 2023. If you are an incoming Grade 12 student in 2023 – you are eligible to take the UPCAT!

To help you in preparing for one of the biggest college entrance test, we asked our tutors to share their review/study tips. All our tutors are UP students & alumni – so who can better give you tips?

Reviewing is important, but so is your diet!

Try out some recipes that could help boost brain power, and don’t forget to stick to a balanced diet.

Make the day before your exam a rest day.

Meaning, no rigorous review, and no cramming. Do what you normally would do on this day for leisure, like take a walk, go to the mall, play with your pets, or engage in your hobbies. You could open your review materials but just skim through them. This tip helped me a lot to ensure that I didn’t cram reviewing right before the exam.

Take handwritten notes.

Effort helps a lot in committing your lessons to memory, and notetaking is proven to help in remembering key details in your lessons. It really helps as well to get creative with your note taking, both for your review and maybe even your handwriting.

You can try to help out your fellow examinees during the review by tutoring them yourself!

One way to gauge how much you learned is how you communicate or teach your review lessons well to others. Maybe you’ll even gain feedback on what you got wrong on the topics or maybe you’ll be able to receive bonus tips from others on what they know.
